The 2007 golden diptych develops the theme of social cohabitation making reference to the organisation of the beehive, symbol of universal harmony, as it is based on the cooperation between the tens of thousands of bees which form it. The three towers of the Republic are depicted on the obverse side of the 50 Euro coin, pictured through a hexagonal diaphragm which calls to mind the shape of the beehive cells, whilst on the reverse are depicted the bees which produce the precious nectar, fruit of their collaboration. Inserted in a hexagon on the observe side of the 20 Euro coin are portrayed the three towers of the State with mechanisms which, merging, form the battlements of the buildings, whilst on the reverse is depicted a system of mechanisms in which all the components cooperate with the same efficiency in order to generate the desired movement and above, arched, the word "ARMONIA" (harmony), an essential condition in order to obtain social cohabitation.
