ASCAT was established in 1977 and the first constitutive meeting was held in San Marino. Initially only catalogue editors were present, whilst today editors from magazines and albums also form part of it. Its seat is in Munich, Bavaria and it has about sixty members. The President of ASCAT is Hans Hohenester, of the German catalogue, Michel, nominated in 2006 and who will remain in office until the year 2009. In the management group  there are also two Italians: Lorenzo Dellavalle, representing Bolaffi and Augusto Ferrara for “L'informazione del Collezionista”.
